Battlefront 2 PC Performance Woes

I recently bought Battlefront II on the Origin sale. Unfortunately, despite having a fairly neat gaming PC it ran really poorly.

Looking around online, it was clear it was a “me” problem as there were plenty of people with worse hardware running much quicker.

My setup is as follows:

• Ryzen 5 3600X 4.4GHz CPU
• Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB OC GPU
• MSI B350 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard

Using Ultra settings, I was struggling to get above 60 FPS on loading screens, frequently ran into stuttering, and dropped lower than 10 FPS in intense multiplayer scenes, often leaving me rather dead.

I tried a lot of things, but these things worked the best:

• Disabling DirectX 12, this setting made the single greatest difference to my FPS. Without it everything ran beautifully, with it - it was terrible.
• Disabling VSync

I also disabled:

• f.lux, which was running in the background

With those settings I average ~115FPS in multiplayer - night and day to before.
